300 Picture Books Challenge #16

Up until Thursday we only had one new book to add to the list – Peppa’s Easter Egg Hunt. But luckily Daddy took Little Miss to the library that afternoon so we now have a new stash after all. That said the Peppa Pig book, an Easter present, has by far been the most read of the bunch. In fact it’s been a bit of a Peppa week, with Little Miss also wanting the Baby Alexander book every night before bed, despite our (failed) efforts to try and add a bit of variety!

Of the other books read (see pic below) Alfie’s Feet, by Shirley Hugheswas always going to be a big hit as it’s about one of Little Miss’s favourite things – footwear and especially new wellies! She was also already familiar with the characters of Alfie and his little sister Annie Rose. I too have a soft spot for them as I remember them from my own childhood – the first book was published way back in 1981 when I was a two-year-old! The stories are always very endearing, covering traditional childhood fun and scenarios that are easy for little people to recognise and enjoy.

If you’re also a fan of Alfie then I came across a great page of printable Alfie resources on the official website. Some are aimed at slightly older children than Little Miss but I’m sure she’d enjoy the colouring page.

So with six new books added to the list this week, our current total is now 169 different books read since the start of the year.
